It was recently revealed that Robocop star Peter Weller now works as an art historian. At the ripe old age of 57, he returned to school to receive a Master’s degree in Roman and Renaissance Art from Syracuse University, and then a Ph.D. in Italian Renaissance art history from UCLA. Peter Weller: Film Career And Professional Life
Peter Weller began his professional existence as a theatre actor in the 1970s, performing in a number of Broadway productions including Full Circle by Otto Preminger, Summer Brave by William Inge, and Picnic by Arthur Miller.
In the 1979 film Butch and Sundance: The Early Days, he made his acting debut in the role of “Joe Le Fors.” Before becoming well-known for his role in the 1984 drama “Firstborn,” he acted in films including “Just Tell Me What You Want,” “Shoot the Moon,” and “Of Unknown Origin.”
In the 1984 science fiction adventure film The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, he also performed the iconic role of Banzai.
In the American cyberpunk action film “RoboCop,” released in 1987, Weller portrayed the lead role. Weller’s portrayals of the title characters in “RoboCop” and “Officer Alex Murphy” stole the show.

Throughout his career, Weller has starred on a variety of television shows, including 24 (as Christopher Henderson), Dexter (as Stan Liddy), Odyssey 5 (as Chuck Taggart), and Sons of Anarchy (as Charles Barosky). His History Channel show, “Engineering an Empire,” was hosted by him as well.
