Phoenix Police Release Self-Defense Killer

On Sunday morning, the Phoenix police department let a guy go after he told them he had shot another man in self-defense.

Sgt. Brian Bower, the department’s spokesman, said that at 9:57 a.m., a guy turned himself in at the intersection of Bethany Home Road and 27th Avenue and confessed to shooting Alejandro Jaques, 26.

Bower stated that police found Jaques at a local hospital with a gunshot wound and three other guys in tow; all four were eventually confirmed dead. Bower also mentioned that the police had arrested the man who claimed to have shot Jaques and the other three men who had been with him.

What Authorities Identified?

According to Bower, the man authorities have not identified was reportedly released after giving “self-defense statements” to detectives. Bower did not elaborate on what led up to the shooting or what happened to the three individuals travelling with Jaques.

He also said that the case would be sent to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office once the investigation was finished for review.

The Murder Bureau of the Phoenix Police Department arrived and assumed investigation control. The shooter was taken into custody and told investigators he fired in self-defense. Although the investigation into this case continues, the man was eventually released. Once everything is wrapped up, the patient will be sent to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review.
