Man Shot Dead In KC Apartment Building Saturday

On Saturday morning in Kansas City, a 34-year-old man was fatally shot inside an apartment complex.

According to Jake Becchina, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department, when officers arrived to the scene of the incident at 5:40 a.m., they discovered a guy with gunshot wounds.

Prior to the arrival of emergency medical services, officers provided first aid while transporting the victim to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to Becchina.

Rodney White was the victim, according to later police reports.

On Saturday morning, police officers and crime scene investigators processed the scene near an inside stairwell while the back of the building was cordoned off. Police, according to Becchina, believe the victim had a run-in with a suspect near a flat building common space that resulted in gunshots.

Becchina declared on Saturday night that investigators were “making headway” in locating a person of interest in the investigation.

Police are asking anybody with information to call 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline, which may be reached anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. For information in this case that is provided anonymously to the TIPS hotline, a reward of up to $25,000 is being given.
