In a recent interview, the widow of the late Chester Bennington, frontman for the band Linkin Park, discussed her husband’s struggle with depression and the aftereffects of his death by suicide. Everything you need to know about Chester Bennington Death.
Bennington ended his own life in July and died as a result of his actions. He had only reached the age of 41.
At the Canadian Event Safety Summit, where she was there to talk about mental health, Talinda spoke about the events that led up to Bennington’s passing, as well as how other people can get help if they need it. It was revealed by her that he had suffered a great deal as a result of the passing of his close friend and Soundgarden icon Chris Cornell.
“There was a history with my husband… In the past, he had expressed an interest in ending his life by taking his own life, but I always told myself that it was because he was so wasted. Talinda explained that he was this or that. “As a result, [before] he actually passed, I thought very naively that we were safe.
“A very, very dear friend of ours by the name of Chris Cornell took his own life. And I had the thought, “Okay, Chester sees what Vicky and [their kids] are going through and this will never happen.” We are godparents to their children.
Talinda shared the following about the couple’s final days together: “He was very excited to be promoting the new album and doing stuff, so he was happy.” After saying goodbye to me and the kids with a kiss, he walked away, and I never caught up with him again.
Nevertheless, Talinda also shared the sadness she felt upon learning that Bennington had returned to drinking alcohol after being abstinent for nearly half a year.
She went on to say, “He had just begun to share with me in a couple of months before he died, shame I didn’t even know a person could have.” “[It was a] shame that he had just begun to share with me in a couple of months before he died.” When he passed away, and I learned that there were two empty beer bottles in the room, I knew he had relapsed, but I also knew he wasn’t as intoxicated and out of his mind as I would have thought he was. “So when he passed away, and I learned that there were two empty beer bottles in the room, I knew he had relapsed. Instantaneously, I realised that the drink was the cause of that shame, as well as the beginning of a lifetime of unhealthy neural pathways.

Talinda has become a vocal supporter of mental health advocacy since Chester’s passing, frequently using the hashtags #FuckDepression and #MakeChesterProud on social media. No one is to blame in situations like this, she continued, but depression needs to be treated and evaluated.
Even while social media has been a great source of support for her, she acknowledged that occasionally she receives accusations that she was directly responsible for the man’s death, for failing to save him, or for treating him poorly. Who knows the motivation behind these individuals’ appallingly harsh remarks to me from behind their devices? It does, however, give me a little heartache, but I must keep in mind that nobody is to blame, including myself, my children, the band, or the band’s members.
It’s not a mistake. Years of untreated mental illness resulted in drug usage, which in turn caused disastrous relationships. He was prepared to be healthier by the time I met him.
On the other hand, Mike Shinoda recently shared the news that Linkin Park would continue on as a band despite the absence of Chester Bennington.
During a question and answer session on Twitter, a fan asked Shinoda, “Mike, what do you think the future holds for Linkin Park?”
Shinoda responded, saying, “I have no doubt in my mind that we will continue with LP, and the boys feel the same way.” We have a lot of questions to answer and a lot of rebuilding to do, so this is going to take some time.
