In an interview with TODAY on Wednesday, the assistant to the chief medical examiner of the Maryland Department of Health, Bruce Goldfarb, confirmed that the celebrity chef passed away peacefully in his sleep one month ago after succumbing to the disease. The disease is caused when fats, cholesterol, and other substances build up and harden in the arteries, which then restricts the flow of blood through the body. When he passed away, Ruiz was in Maryland visiting friends; he was a resident of the New York City metropolitan region.
Ruiz, who passed away when he was 44 years old, was a famous guest judge on numerous cooking competition programmes broadcast on the Food Network, including “Guy’s Grocery Games” and “Guy’s Ranch Kitchen,” both hosted by Guy Fieri. His deli, Marie’s Italian Specialties, which is based in New Jersey, was highlighted on Guy Fieri’s popular show “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” in 2013, which was the year he received his first major break in front of the camera.
