The police opened an investigation into a shooting in west Fort Worth late Sunday night.
The victim, whose age has not been published, told investigators that he was playing outside at an apartment complex on Las Vegas Trail when he heard a gunshot and was struck in his left leg. The boy was shot in the left calf. At Cook Children’s Hospital Center, the victim travelled in a personal automobile to the facility.

At approximately 5:40 p.m., officers from the West Division were dispatched to the victim’s hospital room to speak with them.
The victim reported to the police that the incident took place at the apartment complex located at 2013 Las Vegas Trail. The Villas at Sierra Vista. He said that he did not observe the shooter or the location from whence the gunfire came.
To investigate, police officers went to the apartment complex. The gun violence unit is handling the inquiry at this point.
