The third season of The Witcher has finished filming, and we know it will premiere in the summer of 2023. This season will focus on the Time of Contempt when Geralt and Yennefer are doing all they can to protect Ciri from the growing threats across the Continent.
However, despite these hints, there is still a great deal that we don’t know about the return of the popular series to Netflix. Witcher Season 3 Release Date

The Witcher Season 3 Storyline
The Witcher season 3 story summary from Netflix: “Geralt hides Ciri of Cintra from Continent rulers, wizards, and animals to safeguard his newly reunited family. Yennefer guides them to the walled castle of Aretuza to learn more about Ciri’s untapped powers, where they find a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and betrayal. They must fight back, risking everything, or lose each other forever.”
The Witcher season 3 picks up where the second season left off: Nilfgaard, Redania, and the Northern rulers desire to capture or murder Ciri, the Lion Cub of Cintra. Francesca and the remaining elves want Ciri, who Geralt and Yennefer are protecting. Wars and factions will likely drive the season.
The Witcher season 3 may focus on betrayal. Jaskier serves Dijkstra and Redania, but Aretuza and its wizards seem divided. Yennefer and Geralt face difficulties.
The Wild Hunt momentarily transferred Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer in the season 2 finale. Though they may appear briefly in the following season, they may be the show’s endgame villains.
Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich tweeted that the forthcoming season will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski’s “Time of Contempt.” The first season adapted The Last Wish, while the second adapted A Grain of Truth and most of A Blood of Elves. Since the show deviates from the book, we won’t spoil it. Expect one of Geralt’s most violent battle sequences, Ciri’s odyssey, and The Rats’ arrival. Season 3: many timelines? Hissrich told TheWrap, “Our seasons as a whole are really guided by the stories we want to convey” (opens in new tab). “Structure exemplifies. Season 2 didn’t need non-linear plots. We selected a linear approach, which allowed us to play with visions and memories that we couldn’t accomplish using timelines. Season 3 rocks. I found “The Time of Contempt” incredibly flexible. Plenty of action and jaw-dropping moments await. That drives our stories. Season 3 has a relatively short timeline. No need to waste time.”

The Witcher Season 3 Cast
Geralt (Henry Cavill), Ciri (Freya Allan), and Yennefer will return for The Witcher season 3. (Anya Chalotra). However, Cavill’s final season as Geralt. Liam Hemsworth will lead the fourth season.
After the finale, season 3 will feature Vesemir (Kim Bodnia), Lambert (Paul Bullion), and Coen (Yasen Atour).
Other series regulars Jaskier (Joey Batey), Fringilla (Mimi Ndiweni), Cahir (Eamon Farren), Francesca (Mecia Simson), Filavandrel (Tom Canton), Triss (Anna Shaffer), Tissaia (MyAnna Buring), Dara (Wilson Mbomio), Istredd (Royce Pierreson), Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu), and Stregobor will likely appear (Lars Mikkelsen).
A few second-season characters may return. Dijkstra (Graham McTavish), Phillipa (Cassie Clare), and Lydia (Aisha Fabienne Ross). Duny, now Nilfgaardian Emperor Emhyr, returned (Bart Edwards).
Hissrich told GamesRadar+ that Codringher (Simon Callow) and Fenn (Lizz Carr) would return for season three.
Four more actors are joining. “A human adopted by the dryads of Brokilon Forest,” Meng’er Zhang will play Milva. A “fierce and adept huntress,”
Robbie Amell plays “born fighter” Gallatin. He “leads guerrilla Scoia’tael fighting for Nilfgaard.”
