The Netflix show follows the life of a Saxon named Uhtred of Bebbanburg who was raised as a Dane. The Last Kingdom is adapted from Bernard Cornwell’s The Saxon Stories series. Season one of The Last Kingdom premiered on BBC Two on October 10 in the UK, and on Netflix across the world on December 6.
The premiere of the show’s third season was on April 4, 2018. The third season’s eight episodes were released on November 19, 2018. On December 26, 2018, Netflix renewed The Last Kingdom for a fourth season of 10 episodes, set to release on April 18, 2020.

What Is The Storyline of Season 6 of The Last Kingdom?
The Bernard Cornwell book series The Saxon Stories was a major influence on the creation of The Last Kingdom. The first 10 books have been covered in the first five seasons of the show. There are still three books in the series that haven’t been adapted into films, therefore those are the ones that will serve as the basis for the movie.
Since the movie is set after the events of season 5, it features Dreymon and many of the other characters from that year.
At MCM London Comic-Con, creator Nigel Marchant announced that Season 5 would be the final season. He insisted that they had always planned to film one more season since there was always one more story they wanted to tell, and they had the support of Netflix and their audience, who were eager to watch more episodes.
