Halyna Anatoliivna Hutchins was a cinematographer from Ukraine. She worked on more than 30 feature films, short films, and TV shows, such as Archenemy, Darlin’, and Blindfire. Hutchins was born in Horodets, Ukrainian SSR, on April 10, 1979.
She grew up on a Soviet military base in the Arctic city of Murmansk, which is in Russia. Her father was in the Soviet Navy and served there. She said that she was an “army brat” Jim Hemphill, a film researcher, says that she became interested in movies when she was living at the military base.
She went to National Agricultural University and then Kyiv National University. At National Agricultural University, she first studied economics and then switched to media. Near La Cienega, New Mexico, on October 21, 2021, Hutchins was working as the director of photography on the set of the Western movie Rust. While getting ready for a scene, actor Alec Baldwin sh0t a prop Pietta .45 Colt handgυn, kἰlling the woman who was sh0t and hurting the director, Joel Souza.
Later that day, she dἰed while being taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. She was 42 years old. Baldwin said in a statement the next day that she was sad and shocked by what had happened. He told the cops he would help them and offered help to her family.
On October 23, IATSE groups in the area put together a candlelight vigil at the Albuquerque Civic Plaza. It was attended by hundreds of people.
