The identity of the actor who would be voicing Tighnari in English was leaked by Genshin Impact. miHoYo recast Elliot Gindi as Tighnari and re-recorded the Forest Watcher’s lines after he faced allegations of sexual assault, blackmail, and transphobic comments.
Tighnari, a native of Sumeru who uses Dendro, will be freed in the summer of 2022. Legends from the world of Genshin Impact portray him as a solitary Forest Watcher who devotes much of his time to studying the fungi and other inhabitants of the world’s rainforests. The character demonstration film for Tighnari, titled “Tighnari: Plant Patrol,” featured not just his prowess with the bow and arrow, but also his mushroom-induced hallucinations.
To create room for the new actor’s lines in the future version 3.6 update, miHoYo has been slowly removing Gindi’s lines from Genshin Impact, more than a month after he was replaced as Tighnari’s English voice actor. A 20-second video shared by genshinmains_ on Twitter and several files seems to indicate that Zachary Gordon was cast as Tighnari, even though the developer hasn’t confirmed this.
His role as Greg Heffley in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid films brought him widespread recognition. In addition to his role as Hayner in Kingdom Hearts 3, he has voiced characters in animated films like The Super Hero Squad Show and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.

Several Genshin Impact viewers were taken aback to hear Greg Heffley’s voice acting for Tighnari in the leaked clip. They said Gordon’s voice was better suited to Tighnari’s, but they wanted “more sass.” While others acknowledged the necessity of miHoYo’s decision to replace Tighnari’s voice acting, others expressed regret at the change.
Tighnari’s new English voice lines were teased in a short Twitter video, but fans of Genshin Impact will have to wait until version 3.6 launches on April 12 to hear the full effect. There are others who feel Gordon isn’t right for the part, but they could change their views.
In addition to being one of the most well-known Genshin Impact characters, Tighnari and Zhongli’s banners apparently bring in over $19 million annually despite their low profile. It’s easy to see why so many actors would want to draw attention to his new voice actor.
Despite this, they are still very interested in signing Tighnari because of his adaptable playstyle, high damage, and high crit rate. The mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5 versions of Genshin Impact have just been released. The Switch version is currently in production.
