With his black leather jacket and red bandanna, Mantis proves he’s the strongest bug around. But the first thing you’ll notice about him is the yellow bumps on his face. His fingers control several appendages, and he is counting on his arms to help him gain an advantage.

Singer Robin Thicke The actor considers himself to be “in good company” with Quaid. Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg: I’m praying I’m not six degrees off Kevin Bacon’s cousin.
Our money is on Lou Diamond Phillips, though. The actor from Stand and Deliver has a Broadway background and is a poker player, both of which are significant to the puzzle. His breakout role as Ritchie Valens in La Bamba gives him some theater experience as well.

Episode 8 monologue-
“In a world… where celebrities dress up in elaborate costumes and sing their hearts out, one gentle Mantis is answering the call. ‘I’m in.’ He’s ready to show you a new side of himself. Flying onto the Masked Singer stage comes a performer known for his brooding persona, who’s ready to show you he’s real freakin’ good at comedy. He’s almost won an Emmy for it.”
“You may not know the Mantis as a singer, but he’s a published author. He’s done Shakespeare, and now he wants to let loose and dance with the wolves. Music has followed Mantis his whole career, from Broadway to the silver screen. So get ready for some insect insanity. Because this bug’s coming to the stage right now.”
Visual Clues, Episode 8- Mantis was seen making its way up a tall structure. In another scene, he was accompanied by a guitar and flown to the stage in a helicopter. His hands were depicted holding a stuffed dog. When they were playing cards, one of the Men in Black wore cowboy boots. Before the explosion, there was a close-up of a match and a gas can.
Scene 8: On Stage Sunglasses with a “true story” tag are a hint. “Being able to represent a living legend was crucial to my career. It was a privilege to help out.”
Robin Thicke: Dennis Quaid
Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg: Cole Hauser, Kevin Bacon
Ken Jeong: Bruce Springstreen
Nicole Scherzinger: Keanu Reeves (she guessed later in the episode)
We think it’s neither Dennis Quaid nor Kevin Bacon, despite their Emmy nominations. Bacon has played actual people and is also a musician, so he could be a good fit for the role. Bruce Springsteen has never played a legendary figure on screen, despite his several Emmy nominations. It’s possible, though it might sound insane, that it’s Kurt Russell! His performance as Elvis Presley in the critically praised 1979 TV movie Elvis did win him an Emmy nomination. Viewers’ Twitter guesses included Bob Odenkirk and Sean Hayes.
