Creed III, the third installment in the Rocky spinoff franchise starring Michael B. Jordan as Adonis “Donnie” Creed, Adonis’s (Apollo) son, is now playing. As Sylvester Stallone has officially left the franchise, the Creed films have revitalised the classic boxing franchise for the 21st century, with Jordan taking on an even bigger role in Creed III.
With 2015’s Creed, we met Donnie and learned about his efforts to establish himself as a worthy successor to his father’s legacy, and with 2017’s Creed II, we saw the Creed vs. Drago rivalry revived, which had originally begun in Rocky IV. In Creed III, an all-new adversary appears, to be played by a major rising star.
Whenever Creed III Is Finally Released?
The worldwide release date for Creed III is set for March 3, 2023.
Creed III was originally scheduled for release on November 23, 2022, but its release date was pushed back to July 2022.
Creed III features a rousing tussle between the title character and Ivan Drago, and it also has its own fight for box office supremacy that audiences won’t see. The fantasy/adventure film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, also starring Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, and Hugh Grant, is set for release on the same day as Creed III, March 3. What About A Creed III Teaser?
On October 18, 2022, the first official trailer for Creed III was released online, giving fans their first look at the film’s plot. In the trailer, Adonis’ old friend Damien has just been freed from prison and plans to fight his brother-figure, who he claims abandoned him for a better life. As expected, the trailer does not feature Rocky Balboa, focusing the franchise on Adonis Creed.
Photos from the set have surfaced, giving fans their first look at Lovecraft County (2020) and Loki (2021) actor Jonathan Majors as the new franchise antagonist, boxer Damien Anderson. Michael B. Jordan serves as director.
To prepare for a fight with Adonis Creed in the upcoming sequel or with the Avengers in the highly anticipated Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (2025), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu joked on Twitter, “the Avengers are straight up effed” after seeing the photos of Majors’ ripped work-out transformation on the Creed III set.
At this year’s Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, we also got our first look at the Creed III poster.

The Plot of Creed III
So far, the Creed films have been heavily influenced by the Rocky films, from Donnie’s friendship with Rocky Balboa and his quest to live up to his family name to his confrontation with the Dragos, who was responsible for his father’s demise. However, it seems like we’ll be diverging even further from the original series in the third installment, as we explore more of Donnie’s history apart from the Creeds, Dragos, and Balboas.
Synopsis for Creed III:
“Adonis Creed has been doing quite well in both his professional and personal life since he became a boxing superstar. Damian, a friend from his youth and a one-time boxing prodigy, reappears after a lengthy incarceration determined to prove that he is worthy of another shot at the top. This showdown between ex-pals goes much beyond a simple brawl. Adonis must risk his future in a bout against Damian, a boxer with nothing to lose, if he wants to right a wrong.”
To Whom Do We Owe Creed III?
With Michael B. Jordan at the helm, we may expect one of his most introspective narratives to date. Sylvester Stallone directed the second, third, and fourth Rocky films, as well as the sixth picture, Rocky Balboa, which is right given that he also played the title role in each of those films (2006).
Michael B. Jordan’s frequent creative collaborator and the original Creed director. Ryan and Zinzi Coogler, Ryan’s wife, will serve as executive producers on Creed III (Judas and the Black Messiah). Keenan Coogler (Space Jam: A New Legacy) and co-writer Zach Baylin compose the screenplay, with a story credit going to Ryan Coogler (King Richard).
