Is Blizzard Has Decided To Remove Mei From Overwatch 2?
Another one of Overwatch 2’s heroes is going to be out of commission for around two weeks. Blizzard Entertainment announced through Twitter on Monday that the Overwatch 2 character Mei will be temporarily removed from service until the company can fix a fault affecting her Ice Wall ability. All going well, a patch will be released on November 15 that will bring Mei back to the game. My heart breaks for the Mei main. A sign that isn’t working? The weapon charm wasn’t what I expected.
In order to fix a flaw in Mei’s Ice Wall ability that lets heroes teleport to unanticipated locations, Blizzard has temporarily disabled her from playing the game. We’re doing everything we can to fix these problems, and we hope to have Mei back in the game with the next patch on November 15.
Mei was able to use the bug to propel herself past the map’s limits. A video of the glitch in action on the Busan map of Overwatch 2 was uploaded to Reddit, where players could observe it for themselves. It involves a Kiriko player teleporting to Mei by means of the Swift Step ability. Later, the players take advantage of the exploit to teleport Symmetra off the map, too, making both of them invisible to the rest of the team and hence easy targets.
Although this is Mei’s first punishment, Overwatch 2 had a bumpy debut last month, and it wasn’t uncommon for players to be put on indefinite hold. Due to a number of issues and the fact that they prevented players from gaining access to nearly a third of the game’s roster, the heroes Bastion and Torbjörn had to be taken out of the game. The two of them were taken out of the game on October 10 and just placed back in.
Launch issues have plagued Overwatch 2. There were long wait times on opening day as a result of the game’s popularity, and then a “mass DDoS” attack rendered the game unplayable for many users. In the days that followed, another contentious glitch allegedly caused Overwatch 2 gamers to spend real money on cosmetic items for their characters. As it turns out, this was brought on by the game keeping track of players’ input while they were having a conversation in the Hero Gallery. What Do We Know About Overwatch 2?
Overwatch 2 is a free-to-play sequel to Blizzard Entertainment’s 2016 team-based hero shooter, Overwatch. It’s not a sequel in the traditional sense; rather, it’s a massive upgrade that introduces a host of new features and changes to the gameplay, such as a revamped user interface and altered stats for the Heroes. Since Overwatch 2 is a complete replacement for Overwatch 1, existing players will be compelled to upgrade to it, and new players will be limited to this edition of the game.
Overwatch 2’s gameplay is similar to the original, focusing on completing objectives, but with a twist: the matches are now 5v5 instead of 6v6. When roles are fixed, each team can only field one Tank alongside its standard complement of two Heroes dedicated to dealing damage and one to providing support. A new mode called Push will have teams battling for possession of a robot that must move into enemy territory in order to score points, and new maps will be added to current modes as well. Later in 2023, players will be able to participate in cooperative PvE missions that will advance the plot and introduce them to a fresh mode in Overwatch 2.
Sojourn, Junker Queen, and Kiriko are the three new Heroes in Overwatch 2, ending a drought that has lasted since 2019. New heroes will join the fight with each season, but you’ll have to earn them with the new Battle Passes. New skins and charms will be available for Heroes in the future.
