Maurice Samuel Young was born on September 27th, 1974 in the city of Miami, which is located in the state of Florida. Maurice was one of 10 children who were raised in Liberty City, largely by their mother. From an early age, Maurice had to contend with the challenges that came with living in a low-income community. When Maurice was a little boy, his father, a local pimp, took him in and raised him. During the period that Young was still residing with his father, he made his initial forays into criminal activity. When he was just 15 years old, he had already been distributing crack cocaine on the streets.
Soon after, Maurice was taken into custody for possession of narcotics and a handgun, but from that point on, things would only get worse. After being freed from custody earlier that very same day, he was taken into custody once more for attempted murder the same same day after he shot a guy in the street. At the age of 20, Young was facing a large amount of time behind bars. His brother was killed as he was coping with all of these issues at the same time.

His debut album, “Based on a True Story,” was released in 1997 after his initial appearance on the 1996 album “Uncle Luke.” This album served as the foundation for the publication of “www.thug.com,” which included the song “Nann Nigga.” This turned out to be a huge smash, and the rap rankings showed it peaking at number three.
In 2000, he released his subsequent album, “Book of Thugs: Chapter AK Verse 47.” He published “Thugs Are Us” the following year and “Thug Matrimony: Married To The Streets” in 2004. The number-one song “Let’s Go,” which was a Twista collaboration, would appear on this album. Thereafter, the Ying Yang Twins, DJ Khaled, and Pitbull collaborated once more.
