Jeremy Joan Pea is a Dominican-American professional baseball player. He was born on September 22, 1997, and is a Major League Baseball (MLB) shortstop for the Houston Astros. Pea’s baseball career began at the University of Maine when he was a member of the Black Bears.
Pea had an intriguing background before starting college. He was born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, before migrating with his family to Providence, Rhode Island, when he was nine. From 1990 through 1996, Gerónimo Pea’s father was an infielder with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Cleveland Indians.

Pea spent the summer of 2016 with the Plymouth Pilgrims in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, honing his talents. Pea started 54 games as a sophomore at Maine in 2017 and continued to impress with a batting average of.319, six home runs, and 32 RBIs. He also earned a spot in the famous Cape Cod Baseball League, where he was an All-Star for the Chatham Anglers.
Pea had an equally impressive junior year in 2018. He started 54 games again this year, raising his batting average to.308/.393/.469 with five home runs, 28 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases. He was named to the American East Second Team for his outstanding performance.
The Houston Astros selected Jeremy Pea in the third round of the 2018 MLB draft, clearing the route for his professional future. He made his MLB debut in 2022 and made an immediate impact. Pea did outstanding things as a rookie shortstop the same year.
