Fans worldwide were shocked and saddened by the news of Dolly Parton’s passing early this week. The March 2023 report, however, has been debunked as another in a long line of phony celebrity death rumors. The artist who brought us “9 to 5,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “Jolene”.

A Dolly Parton death rumor is circulating on Facebook.
On Wednesday, a Facebook page titled “R.I.P. Dolly Parton” acquired nearly a million ‘likes,’ fueling rumors of the singer’s alleged death. The ‘About’ page gave a plausible explanation for the American singer’s death, saying:
“At about 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday (March 01, 2023), our beloved singer Dolly Parton passed away. Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946 in Sevierville. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”
Hundreds of mourners went to the Facebook page at once, expressing their shock and sadness at the news of the death of the 77-year-old performer. The death hoax caused the typical frenzy in the Twitterverse.
While some admirers took the tweet at face value, others were naturally cautious in light of the recent spate of hoaxes reporting the deaths of celebrities. Several commentators noted that the story had not been covered by any major American network, suggesting that it was a hoax. After all, the death of a musician of Dolly Parton’s caliber would be front-page news everywhere.
According to a survey performed by the Celebrity Post, the vast majority of respondents (69%) no longer find the death rumors surrounding Dolly Parton to be humorous.
Dolly Parton’s supposed death has been debunked, as the singer is reportedly still alive and well.
Representatives for the singer said on Thursday (March 02) that Dolly Parton is not deceased. Sadly, she may now add her name to the lengthy list of famous people who have fallen for this scam. Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet; she’s OK.

Some of the singer’s devoted followers have spoken out against the false story, calling it careless, upsetting, and insulting. The widespread acclaim she enjoys, so the argument goes, is proof of her global stardom.

Dolly Parton Pays A Heartfelt Homage To Kenny Rogers In Her Memory
Dolly Parton calls Kenny Rogers a “really dear and special friend,” She’ll be thinking of him a lot in the coming months as the three-year anniversary of his death approaches.
“I miss him so much,” Parton told People magazine of her frequent collaborator and close confidant.
“I’ve lost so many wonderful people in my life in the last few years. But Kenny – he was very, very dear and special and I never get tired of hearing us sing, all the years that we were on stage together.”
By March 2020, at age 81, Rogers had died of unavoidable causes.
At the time, Parton shared her sadness in a video tribute posted to social media. “I loved Kenny with all my heart. And my heart is broken. And a big ‘ole chunk of it has gone with him today,” she said.
In her interview with People, she asked, “You know how sometimes you get tired of singing something because it just becomes routine?”, referring to their hit song “Island in the Stream.”
“I would always lighten up when that particular song was due in the set-list. It just always made everybody feel so good in the audience and the audience always loved singing it. I never got tired of Kenny’s voice.”
Parton reflects, “[We recorded that song] just in time too, honestly,” in reference to Rogers’s eventual retirement due to health concerns. I used to be able to sing it with ease, but now I can hardly do it.
“You can make new friends that feel like old friends, but there’s just something about the people that have spent years together … You have a history, and you learn about each other, inside and out. I knew Kenny very well. We’re very similar. We’re like brother and sister really.”
She paused briefly before saying, “He’s up there singing. Well, I am aware of that.
Rogers previously told Fox & Friends that the song carried significant weight. “The song was written for the two of us. We sang it on the stage of the war memorial in Nashville and both of us were really choked up, because it’s kind of a poignantly sad song. It’s about what am I going to do when you’re gone.”
