Annika’s professional career began in earnest in 1992 when she failed to qualify for the LPGA Tour. She started her professional career on the Ladies European Tour and, in 1993, was named the LET’s Rookie of the Year. She joined the LPGA Tour that year and was named the Rookie of the Year for the second time.
Starting at the U.S. Women’s Open in 1995, Sorenstam won a record ten notable titles in her first year on the tour. Annika won the 1996 LET event, giving her a chance at a second Vare Trophy. 1997 she swept the times and successfully defended her Compaq Open title at home.
